The Procedure
Four steps from your shelf to a lifetime credit.
No third-party logistics. No auction fees. No mystery math. A collector starts a trade, ships or drops off the discs, our 11-person verification team grades them, and a credit lands in the account on file — usually within fourteen days of intake.

Initiate the trade
Sign in, open the Reissue Console, and list the discs by title or scan their barcodes. The system pulls your original purchase record and pre-quotes the 25% credit before you box anything.

Ship or drop off
Print the prepaid label (contiguous US) or hand-deliver to our Lancaster, Pennsylvania verification lab. Estates and library partners can schedule a pallet pickup through the Estates Desk.

Lab verification
Each disc is matched to its original transaction, scanned for rot, oxidation, and delamination, and graded against our Archival Grade rubric. Discs that pass retain their full 10-year Bit-Rot Guarantee when reissued.

Credit issued
Credits post to your account within 14 days of intake on 96.4% of submissions. Redeem instantly at checkout, save them for a future archival run, or stack them across years — they never expire.
Eligibility & Estates
What comes back, what doesn't, and how to clear a thousand discs at once.
The Reissue Program is built for two kinds of submitters: the collector pruning a shelf of fifty titles, and the estate or institution clearing a working library of thousands. Both follow the same intake rules — but bulk loads get a dedicated Estates Desk.
Eligible
- Discs originally purchased from BestCDDVD on or after January 1, 2007.
- CD, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD in any genre or pressing variant we still catalog.
- Original case, artwork, and inserts where available — preferred but not required.
- Discs with light cosmetic wear, including hairline scratches that still pass C2/C3 error scans.
- Estate loads and library deaccessions routed through the Estates Desk.
Not eligible
- Discs cracked through the data layer or visibly delaminated.
- Discs not originally sourced from BestCDDVD (we can still buy them outright — see the Catalog).
- Modified region-free discs that have not been re-tested by our lab.
- Recordable media (CD-R, DVD-R, BD-R) and blank optical stock.
- Disc-only VHS, cassette, or any non-optical format.
A note from the lab
A credit that compounds across the years.
Twenty-five percent does not look like much on a single disc. Over a collecting life it becomes something else. A collector who buys a title at twenty-eight and trades it back at forty has been paid, in real dollars, to keep a careful library for twelve years. Trade three hundred discs over two decades and the credit is the equivalent of a season's archival order — a free run of restorations, a winter's worth of imports, the difference between a wish list and a working one.
We do not cap the program. There is no annual payout ceiling, no expiration on issued credit, no restriction against stacking trades from different decades. The credit moves with you; it follows the catalog as it grows. That is the design intent. A Reissue account is a long, quiet relationship between a collector and a permanent inventory, and we have been running it the same way since 2009.

What collectors ask before they ship.
Six questions cover roughly nine out of ten Reissue submissions. If yours is the tenth, our team answers email within one business day.
Who pays return shipping on a trade-in?
Contiguous US collectors receive a prepaid FedEx label generated at intake. International submitters and estate pallet pickups are routed through the Estates Desk, which arranges freight on a case-by-case basis and confirms costs in writing before pickup.
Does Reissue credit expire?
No. Every credit issued through the Reissue Program is permanent and remains on the account indefinitely. There is no rolling annual cap, no dormancy fee, and no blackout on stacking credits from different purchase years.
What happens to discs that arrive damaged or non-playable?
Damaged discs are quarantined, photographed, and reported to the submitter within five business days. A disc that fails verification can be returned at cost, donated to a partner archive, or recycled through our certified e-waste channel — whichever the submitter prefers. No credit is issued on discs that fail verification.
Can international collectors use the Reissue Program?
Yes. We currently accept Reissue submissions from collectors in 74 countries. International submitters are responsible for inbound shipping and customs documentation; our intake team provides a per-shipment compliance packet including HS codes and a declared-value letter.
How are estates and bulk submitters handled?
The Estates Desk manages loads of 200 discs or more, including library deaccessions, artist estates, and inherited collections. A dedicated coordinator arranges inventory, packing materials, freight, and a single consolidated credit issuance. Estate submitters may also elect a charitable receipt in lieu of store credit where applicable.
Does Reissue credit stack with the 10-year Bit-Rot Replacement Guarantee?
Yes. A disc traded back through Reissue and reissued to a new collector carries the same free 10-year Bit-Rot Replacement Guarantee as a first-sale disc. The original purchaser's trade-in credit is independent of the new owner's guarantee — the two programs run in parallel.
